Entry via Xbox friend

Join a Minecraft server on PS4

Since late 2019 the PS4 runs the same Bedrock edition as the other consoles, with the same limit: no “Add server” button. Huby gets around it with a plain Xbox friend.

PlayStation 4About 5 minutes

Before you start

  • Minecraft up to date on the PS4. If your main menu still looks like the old “PS4 Edition”, run the update: the current version shows the Marketplace tab and the “Sign in” screen.
  • A free Microsoft account, signed in within the game.
  • Online play enabled on the console. A PlayStation Plus subscription may be required: check what the game tells you before subscribing.

The steps

  1. Step 1

Sign in with a Microsoft account

In the game menu : Home screenSign in

From Minecraft's home screen, choose Sign in. The game shows a short code and a web address: open it on your phone, enter the code, and confirm with your Microsoft account. The PS4 keeps you signed in for next time.

  2. Step 2

Send a friend request to HubyOnMC

In the game menu : PlayFriendsAdd Friend

Play, Friends tab, Add Friend. Search for HubyOnMC, then send the request. The account accepts on its own: no need to wait for a human to be online.

  3. Step 3

    Join the Huby world

In the game menu : PlayFriendsJoinable Friends

Still in the Friends tab, look at the Joinable Friends section: HubyOnMC offers a world named Huby there. Select it. It loads like a normal world, then a menu appears.

  4. Step 4

    Pick a server

In Huby's menu, the featured servers come first, then the public servers, then your list. Pick one, and the PS4 connects to it directly. Add Server asks you for an address and a port.

Why a friend rather than an address?

The Bedrock edition on PS4 has nowhere to enter a server address: the Servers tab is reserved for Mojang’s partners. But joining a world opened by a friend has always worked, and a world can transfer its players to a server. Huby is exactly that: a world run by the Xbox account HubyOnMC, which shows you a list and transfers you. No network tinkering, no risk for your other games. The long explanation is in why there is no “Add server” button on console.

Something not working?

The game doesn’t offer “Sign in”

Your copy of Minecraft is old. Update the game from the PlayStation Store; the current edition is free for anyone who owned the old one.

HubyOnMC stays “pending”

The request is usually accepted in under a minute. Relaunch the game to refresh the Friends tab. If nothing changes after ten minutes, tell us on Discord.

Joinable Friends is empty

The list does not refresh on its own: leave the tab and come back, or relaunch Minecraft. If HubyOnMC is your friend but never joinable, the hub is probably down for maintenance; Discord will say so.

Disconnected right after the transfer

The destination server is refusing: full, updating, or closed to Bedrock players. Go back to Huby and try another server. See also the servers page to understand the case of Java servers.

Next time

HubyOnMC stays in your friends and their Huby world stays joinable: three presses from Play. Your server list is kept with your Microsoft account, so you also find it on another console or on your phone.

A question, a blocker, a server to suggest? That is what the Discord is for, and the FAQ already answers the most common questions.
